Power Profiler doesn't allow to press initialize button

Hi,

我使用DA 14861 wearable, and i would like to ask if i can use the power profiler, because when i connect the CIB with the wearable and according to the tutorial when you press the SmartSnippets Toolbox and configure the first step (JTAG option, settings etc) when i go to the power profiler i cannot press the initialize button thus i cannot see the statistics. By the way, when i press the SmartSnippets Toolbox it show an error message "SDK configuration xml file could not be found. Using bundled support packs.". The SDK is "DA14681_WRBL_v_1.150.6"

Thanks in advance

Hi ksalgado,

Hi ksalgado,

In order to use the Power Profiler of the SmartSnippets toolbox, you should connect over UART instead of JTAG. As soon as you open the toolbox, in the pop-up window, you could select either COM port or JTAG serial number. For activating the Power Profiler, you should select UART/SPI and then select the appropriate COM port. However, this option is not available in the 681 Wearable DK, as the only option to connect is over JTAG. Can you please indicate why you need to use the Power Profiler? Just to measure the power consumption?

In addition, the power consumption of a reference design (like Wearable) can be measured using the power profiler from the SmartSnippets tool. The reference design is supplied from the CIB, whereas a DA14580 PRO Motherboard is used for monitoring and measuring the current drawn. The current measurement circuit from a Pro DK is connected in series between the CIB and the reference design.

So, if you have the DA14580 PRO Motherboard, then you could try the follow procedure:

1. Remove the jumper from the J16 header (CIB).

2. Remove the jumper from the J11 header (DA14580DEVKIT-P_vB).

3. Use a cable to connect pin 23 from the J5 header (DA14580DEVKIT-P_vB) to pin 1 from the

header J16 (CIB).

4. Use another cable to connect pin 2 from the J11 header (DA14580DEVKIT-P_vB) to pin 2 from

the header J16 (CIB).

5. The power switch (SW2) from the CIB must be in position ON.

6. Connect the Pro Motherboard (DA14580DEVKIT-P_vB) to the PC using a USB cable.

7. Connect the CIB to the PC using another USB cable.

I don't have the DA14580 PRO Motherboard, so i cannot measure the energy consumption ? I have the DA14861, is there any other way to measure it?

Thanks

Hi ksalgado,

Hi ksalgado,

No, using the power profiler with only the existing hardware is not possible. But can you please indicate what you would like to do? Just to see if the device advertising or to measure the current consumption?

Thanks, PM_Dialog
