Is the host motherboard same or different with the DA14531 Module?

Hi. The following webpage is confusing (at least to us):

http://lpccs-docs.dialog-semiconductor.com/UM-140-DA145x-CodeLess/howToUse.html#how-to-use-codeless

Figure 9 with fly-wire is clear and working for us.

Can we use the older main motherboard with the DA14531 Module PCB? The text states the fly wire is required yet Figure 11 does not show any fly wires.

Is the motherboard the same or different version than supplied in the past? That is, we are using our older main boards and have not yet unsealed the new main boards for testing the DA14531 modules.

Figure 11 shows that only jumper changes will allow for the DA14531 module board to be tested?

Also, figure 1 here:

http://lpccs-docs.dialog-semiconductor.com/UM-140-DA145x-CodeLess/introduction.html

shows the driver screen for the FTDI UART. Why is the Segger CDC UART driver being shown here? Believe that this should be the FTDI proprietary driver screen grab? This was another point of confusion (at least for us).

The latest driver package from FTDI is working for the 2 x UARTs on Windows 10 and the use of the CODELESS firmware (that is missing from the downloaded SDK).

Thanks.

Hi mom2,

Hi mom2,

Can you please clarify which is the version of the old main motherboard?

This is the 4-wire UART, so no need to use fly-wires – just use the suggested jumpers.

Regarding the figure 1, thanks for the indication – I’ll escalate it internally.

Thanks, PM_Dialog

Hello. Thanks for the reply.

Hello. Thanks for the reply.

Attached are the top & bottom side pics for our "old" main board that was supplied as a kit for the DA14531 (component only) development.

问题是如果我们能新DA14531交配Module PCB onto this older main board and just use the jumpers as shown to use.

This "old" main board with the seated DA14531 PCB does function with the CODELESS firmware fine as shown.

Hello. Thanks for the support

Hello. Thanks for the support. With a Clint Eastwood vibe, we "felt lucky" and just configured this old main board with the jumpers (only) as shown on the webpage -> applied the CODELESS firmware for the 531 onto the DA14531 module -> working fine with the Hayes style AT command set.

So for the DA14531 module PCB, the fly wires are not required.

Sorry for wasting your time on this question.

One small side note, in following the AT command code examples to enable / disable the LED:

http://lpccs-docs.dialog-semiconductor.com/UM-140-DA145x-CodeLess/demo.html

Using the older (discrete component) PCB with the DA14531, the example turns on / off LED D5 on the main board.

Using the current DA14531 module PCB, the same code example turns on / off LED D2 on the add-on DA14531 module board.

Hi mom2,

Hi mom2,

As far as I know, yes you can run the CodeLess in your ”old” board.

According to Figure 11 from the CodeLess user manual, only jumpers are needed for the HW configuration.

Thanks for your indication regarding enable / disable the LED. Any feedback would be more than welcome!

Thanks, PM_Dialog
