Dual battery

Dear Dialog,

we are now using da14680 on a custom board.

我们正在考虑啊f the possibility to integrate two identical lithium Ion in the design for mechanical integration purpose.

These battery would be in parallel.

Would the 1.0.14 SDK and da14680 be able to manage such an implementation?

Best Regards

Matthieu

Hi Matthieu,

Hi Matthieu,

Thanks for your question and happy new year. First of all, you should make sure that the VBAT voltage will be according to the datasheet specs.

Regarding the SDK question, could you please explain what you would like to accomplish? Is this for the State of the Charge feature?

Thanks, PM_Dialog

Dear Dialog,

Dear Dialog,

sorry for my lack of politeness, all my best wishes for this new year.

I would like to now if it is possible to have two smaller batteries instead of one larger for mechanical integration.

My knowlegde is that if i want to take benefit from both batteries the bms should manage them, without correct BMS, one of the battery would be useless.

Did you test such implementation @ dialog?

Best Regards

Matthieu

Hi matthieuW,

Hi matthieuW,

I have to ask internally if you suggest/support such an implementation and I’ll get back to you. What is the type of the battery?

Thanks, PM_Dialog

Hi dialog,

Hi dialog,

the battery is lithium Ion or lithium polymer.

Best regards

Hi matthieuW,

Hi matthieuW,

We haven’t tested to power the DA1468x via 2 x Lithium in parallel. If the DA1468x will be supplied with the proper voltage, it will not have any issues but it’s not the safest / best approach to use them in parallel. In any short-circuity, one battery will discharge inside the other, so you can understand that is not too safe for the design.

In case you would like to proceed with this implementation, a external circuit with multiple cells should be used in order to take care of this and make the design more safe.

Thanks, PM_Dialog
